Beyond the #hashtag Movement: How the Cycle of Shame and Silence Feeds the Foster Care-to-Prison Pipeline
St. Anne’s Annual Summit provides an intersection for our region’s thought leaders and change makers to examine current issues affecting at-risk women, children and families. The goal of the event is to spark inspiration and conversation into action.
Beyond the #hashtag Movement: How the Cycle of Shame and Silence Feeds the Foster Care-to-Prison Pipeline will examine how sexual harassment and abuse of young women in foster care and the shame that accompanies the silence is systemic. These women, especially on the margins, don’t have famous spokespeople to cast a light on their plight, so it goes unrecognized and manifests into more serious behavioral issues. What roles do you as educators, child welfare workers, juvenile justice reps and the legal system play in promoting awareness and interventions that lead to breaking the cycle of shame and silence? This and more to be explored.
