Director of Communications & Marketing


The Director of Communications & Marketing reports to the Chief Development Officer and is responsible for shaping, overseeing and implementing communications for St. Anne’s. The Director oversees the organization’s graphic design, digital, social media, internal & external communications, crisis communications, marketing promotions and strategic public relations efforts.

This includes: Leading all writing, production and dissemination of print and online materials, including proposal design, composition and design of newsletters, brochures, online content and direct mail solicitations. This position also assists the Chief Development Officer with on-going departmental activities which promote and support St. Anne’s’ mission.

 JOB DUTIES:          

Strategy, planning & assessments:

  • Design and implement short- and long-term communications plans for St. Anne’s, including marketing and public relations strategies to enhance and expand St. Anne’s image and reputation.
  • Oversee the organization’s graphic design, digital, social media, internal & external communications, crisis communications, marketing promotions and strategic public relations efforts.
  • Conduct periodic communications audits to maintain cohesive, professional identity and cost effectiveness.

Online & Social Media:

  • Create content for social media and networking platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Guidestar, etc.), moderate comments and update profiles as needed, keeping donors and alumni engaged and connected with St. Anne’s.
  • Manage website content using SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices, ensuring that St. Anne’s ranks highly for relevant keyword searches.
  • Develop online fundraising initiatives by administering email, web and social media campaigns complimenting St. Anne’s traditional fundraising activities.
  • Lead implementation of new web initiatives such as integrating video and podcast components to website
  • Manage and maintain all content, functionality and technology related to St. Anne’s website and outlying online community
  • Work closely with office of CEO to facilitate communications on Control Board Portal, including converting/creating and uploading of all board-relevant documents, contact information, calendars, etc.
  • Create and send email marketing appeals, e-newsletters, including management of email list(s) and tracking of results.
  • Special Events
  • Support special events with invitation and web design, speech writing, and donor relations and attendance.
  • Strategize and execute event communications (visual and messaging)
  • Manage communications with event honorees and panelists
  • Assistance and participation in various special events annually.
  • Writing & Print Production
  • Execute all print production, including design, budget, schedule, inventory, delivery of newsletter, annual report, invitations, direct mail, advertisements, stationery, etc.
  1. Control planning, writing and production of organization’s direct mail campaigns, including managing the annual timeline, permits, mailing list criteria and tracking of results.
  2. Oversee St. Anne’s branding and messaging consistency internally and externally, including but not limited to, speech writing for CEO and Board members.
  3. Responsible for the design and development of brochures, annual report, newsletters, flyers, signage and various other printed materials, including photography, content, printing and distribution.

Public Relations

  • Public relations, including writing and distributing press releases, advertorials/editorials, film PSAs, etc.
  • Maintain photo library with images from events, client success stories and staff.


  1. Attend meetings and events as directed, which promote St. Anne’s in the community and foster increased support and recognition.
  1. Maintain ongoing communications with department managers and positive relationships with all St. Anne’s employees and volunteers.
  2. Identify success stories for direct mail and annual report, etc.
  1. Maintain uncompromising confidentiality regarding departmental, donor and public relations matters.
  1. Special projects as-needed and other duties as required.


  1. College degree or equivalent experience
  2. Minimum five years communications experience in related field
  3. Excellent writing skills
  4. Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Windows and donor software, CMS platforms, email marketing software, Adobe CS Suite, social media dashboards, Google analytics, basic HTML and CSS skills.
  5. Experience with commercial print production and direct mail.
  6. Strong personal commitment to the mission of St. Anne’s.
  7. High standards of personal integrity and professionalism
