Transportation and Education Specialist

Two Shifts Available: M-F 7am-1pm and M-F 2pm-8pm

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Recreational and Community Engagement Manager, the Transportation and Education Specialist is responsible for transporting residents to and from school and others activities, supporting residents in completing education-related tasks (i.e., independent study, homework, etc.) and monitoring, supervising, and guiding the residents in their daily routine. Provides a healthy, therapeutic and safe environment for residents and their children in their direct care.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Provide residents with transportation to and from school. Transportation services include but are not limited to school drop-off and pick-up, transportation to medical appointments, etc.
  2. Monitor and ensure the condition of St. Anne’s vehicles; report and document any damages and/or unsafe conditions of the vehicles.
  3. Provide tutoring and academic support during independent studies and homework sessions.
  4. Monitor and supervise residents while utilizing agency computers including internet usage to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents at all times.
  5. Provide supervision, protection, and care of residents individually and in groups at all times.
  6. Provide assistance to each resident in working with a group and in handling individual problems.
  7. Use strength-based approach to address behavioral concerns and set limits to shape safe and positive decision-making.
  8. Document residents’ progress; identify possible need for professional services; communicate such findings to professional staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Social Work, Psychology or other related degree.
  2. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  3. Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
  4. Physical ability to perform Pro-ACT, administer first aid/CPR and operate an agency motor vehicle.
  5. Ability to independently use a computer and the ability to learn necessary computer programs.
  6. Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.

As providers of social services, St. Anne’s employees work with clients dealing with complex emotional and mental health issues, many of whom are facing significant personal crises on a daily basis. Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions, transference, and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional.       As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.
