St. Anne’s Residents are College Bound

Only 50% of foster youth graduate high school by age 18, but this year four young mothers from St. Anne’s Residential Treatment Program are heading to college. St. Anne’s RTP Director Maryam Sesay,  who attended the emotional high school graduations, said, “Seeing these young women reach this milestone was truly inspiring, because I know what they have been through.”

One mother, Lisa*, has two children under the age of 3. RTP alumna Cheyenne, who will graduate from UC Riverside next year, is Lisa’s mentor. Inspired and encouraged by Cheyenne, Lisa applied and was accepted to UC Riverside and will start in the fall!

The other graduating mothers will be attending Cal State Northridge and local community colleges. St. Anne’s congratulates them on this important accomplishment. Good luck in college!
