Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am to 4:30pm  – Full Time (Flexibility working on weekends and evenings)

Pay Rate: $21.56 per hour.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) offers a sign-on incentive between $750 – $1500 based on annual pay/salary after completing 90 days of continuous and satisfactory employment.

Location: Lynwood and L.A.


Under the supervision of the Family and Community Engagement Manager, the Family Service Advocate (FSA) promotes family wellness, parent engagement and supports the implementation of the family partnership process. FSAs operate as a liaison between classroom and home settings in the area of early childhood education, including areas of health, nutrition, mental health, disabilities, and parent involvement. In addition, FSAs recruit, enroll, and work closely with staff to ensure appropriate school attendance and continuous services for children and families. This position will require travel to and from main office and Early Childhood Education centers located in Los Angeles and Lynwood service areas, as needed. Mileage reimbursement is offered for travel.

This position includes, but is not limited to, the development and/or update of assessing the needs of families and support to find adequate resources to meet the families’ needs. FSA will assist families acquire advocacy skills and coordination of necessary services, establish an ongoing partnership with families, and be respectful of families’ diversity and cultural backgrounds. At times, if necessary, home visits may occur to meet a family’s needs and ensure the wellbeing of the family. FSAs, in collaboration with other program service areas staff, coordinate and facilitate monthly parent meetings, workshops and/or trainings for families, held in person and/or virtually. FSAs are also responsible for data entry, recordkeeping, and tracking of family data. Electronic completion and filing of forms is required. FSAs work closely with other service areas to carry out their duties and responsibilities for their assigned caseloads, including all of St. Anne’s Head Start, Early Head Start, and State-funded contracts and program options.


  1. Provide ongoing recruitment and enrollment of new families to ensure that full enrollment across all program options is met throughout the program year.
  2. Flexibility to attend and participate in recruitment events in our service areas of Los Angeles and Lynwood communities, as needed, during evenings and/or weekends. Advanced notice will be given of upcoming recruitment events.
  3. Establish and maintain up-to-date program data and current documentation of family records data and program activities. Enter and maintain all family and child data in Child Plus. Complete electronic forms and filing. Run Child Plus reports to comply with mandated and program timelines.
  4. Compile mandated background information pertaining to families such as surveys, assessments, and other related materials.
  5. In collaboration with other content areas, identify specific needs of children, such as health, dental, nutrition, and mental health needs. Work closely with specific content areas to assist in obtaining the required documentation, medications, health services, etc., to address any needs a child may have, such as allergies, medication needs, disability concerns, etc.
  6. Following enrollment, screen and secure health services for assigned children including hearing and vision. Ensure screenings and follow-up procedures are complete within the designated timeframe and maintain records to document efforts.
  7. Collaborate with teaching staff to follow up on child absenteeism to meet attendance requirements.
  8. Facilitate and prepare materials for monthly parent meetings, including PowerPoint presentations, flyers, attendance certificates, agenda, minutes, etc. Coordinate guest speakers for parent meetings, as needed.
  9. Assist families in a family partnership process to identify their strengths and needs to support in establishing family goals.
  10. Assist families to identify community resources and acquire advocacy skills to enhance the wellbeing of their family.
  11. Develop and implement effective means of communication with parents and staff from other service areas in the program. FSAs serve as liaisons between the program and families.
  12. Collect and disseminate information, including materials pertaining to program service, activities, and local community resources and services available to families.
  13. Operate as a team member in support of EHS/HS program policies, procedures and performance standards.
  14. Complete the Family Development Credential (FDC) course.
  15. Maintain confidentiality as required by St. Anne’s, licensing, HIPAA, and other regulatory agencies.
  16. Follow St. Anne’s mandated reporting guidelines.
  17. Attend staff meetings and recommended training programs as assigned.
  18. Maintain regular, consistent, and timely attendance.


  • Participate in the Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) program of the agency.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  1. Associate degree in social work, child development, social services, or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred. Alternatively, a Family Development Credential and high school diploma.
  2.  Excellent client service skills with clients, visitors, volunteers, and employees.
  3. Clerical experience (answering phones, taking messages, using email system, typing, and filing)
  4. Proficient computer skills, including all Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  5.  Must possess and maintain a valid CA driver’s license, automobile insurance and driving record acceptable to agency’s insurance carrier. Mileage reimbursement is available.
  6. Bilingual English and Spanish, Tagalog, or Korean.
  7. Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.

Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions, transference, and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional. As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.
