Accounting Specialist

Temporary Position for 6 months

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Accounting Specialist will monitor government and private funded programs to ensure fiscal contract compliance.  In addition, this position will be performing the accounting functions for assigned government grants.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Responsible for submitting month end billing summaries to government and private funding sources.
  2. Will assist with month end close which includes allocation of expenditures to contracts, reconciling grants receivables, and updating revenue and expense roll forward schedules.
  3. Assist with preparing adjusting journal entries to general ledger.
  4. Assist with preparation of agency annual operating budget which includes uploading final budget into Abila software.
  5. Assist Program Directors and Fund Development staff with budgets for grant proposals.
  6. Monitor grant budgets and prepare budget modifications as needed.
  7. Prepare expenditure reports due to government agencies and foundations.
  8. Prepare program analysis reports for Program Directors and Director of Finance.
  9. Other assignments as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a minimum of two (2) years in college and five (5) years with relevant work experience with government grants or a bachelor’s degree in business related field.
  2. Must possess working knowledge of general ledger transactions and complete account reconciliations.
  3.  MIP Abila Accounting Software is preferred.
  4. Must have extensive budgeting experience as it relates to budget preparation, reporting, monitoring and allocation of shared cost
  5. Must have computer skills including spreadsheet application (Microsoft Excel).
  6. Must be detail oriented and be able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  7. Must have good interpersonal skills across all levels including co-workers.
  8. Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  9. Nonprofit experience preferred.

As providers of social services, St. Anne’s employees work with clients dealing with complex emotional and mental health issues, many of whom are facing significant personal crises on a daily basis.  Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions, transference, and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional.  As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.
