Activities Assistant

Shift Available: Sun – Wed 12pm -9pm  flex Thurs 1pm – 9pm

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing a healthy, therapeutic, and safe environment for residents and their children through direct care.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist with activities and special events as directed by Activity Coordinator.
  • Chaperone scheduled activities both on site and away from the facility grounds.
  • Provide for the supervision, protection, and care of residents.
  • Manage distribution and collection of all necessary documentation.
  • Assure all supplies and donations are consistently organized and inventoried.
  • Promote social skills through resident participation in all activities and special events.
  • Administers discipline and setting limits of behavior.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, or related degree. Coursework in recreational leadership is preferred.

  • Experience in group, social or recreational work is preferred.
  • Ability to exercise considerable initiative and judgment required in planning and arranging recreational events, counseling, selection of activities and use of leisure time, and promoting interest in participation in activities.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.

Have one or more of the following:

  • Residential (Group Home Experience)
  • Residential Assistant (College)
  • After School Program
  • Summer Camp
  • Significant Art Background (Visual or Performance)
  • BA in Liberal Arts (Psychology, Sociology, Theater, Graphic Design)
  • Someone who is enthusiastic and ready to start. Someone who is creative, fun, understanding and can adapt to the work environment. They are expected to come prepared everyday to work, to be on their toes because our day to day can change at any second. We have structure but must be open and able to adapt to any spontaneous changes.
