Education Specialist, Transitional Housing Program

Shift: Mon-Thurs 10am-7pm, flex (every other) Friday 10am-6pm

JOB SUMMARY:

Maintain a healthy, therapeutic, and safe environment for all residents. Work with residents to develop the skills necessary for independent living.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop education self-sufficiency plans with residents that describe objectives, action steps, timeframes, and supportive services necessary to achieve the objectives.
  • Assist residents with the implementation of the self-sufficiency plans by regularly meeting with each resident as often as necessary.
  • Continuously assess residents to identify changing needs and modify their self-sufficiency plans and staff interventions as necessary.
  • Appropriately document the residents’ activities and program participation.
  • Research and collaborate with education supportive service providers and facilitate each resident’s participation in appropriate services according to their self-sufficiency plan and education track.
  • Facilitate events and off-site college campus visits that promote continued education among residents
  • Develop and facilitate life skills and education classes for residents.
  • Provide crisis intervention to residents and develop safety plans to assist residents with making safe choices.  
  • Assist with the operations of the lobby when necessary.
  • Assist during emergency situations. Direct emergency response personnel, residents and staff. Assist with evacuating the building if necessary.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Science and a minimum two years of full-time experience working with transition-aged youth.
  • Good oral, written and organizational skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
