Food Services & Conference Center Supervisor

Job description

Schedule: Monday- Friday 7am-3pmpm (Work hour Flexibility/may require to work weekends/ if needed)


The Food Service & Conference Center Supervisor is responsible the operations of the kitchen & Conference Center to ensure healthy and balanced meals are served to our clients, staff members, guests and tenants. The Food Service & Conference Center Supervisor will help monitor adherence to state and local health regulations, as well as standards outlined by the National School Lunch Program and CACFP. The Food Services & Conference Center Supervisor directly supervises the Food Services & Conference Center staff and any interns from the Work Force Development Program.


  • Supervise kitchen personnel assuring work is performed according to specified state standards and in accordance with government funding and its requirements.
  • Directs the purchasing, receiving, storing and preparing of food and related products
  • Assist with meal planning, food preparation and catered functions as needed.
  • In-service Education of staff
  • Scheduling of staff according to department needs within budgetary guidelines.
  • Help cover work shifts when needed.
  • Maintain proper documentation to support government funded programs and obtain the highest subsidies possible.
  • Assist Director in planning department budgetary guidelines.
  • Help maintain a budget to ensure fiscal compliance for the Food Services Department
  • Orient, evaluate and assess performance of all kitchen staff members, as needed.
  • Identify areas for staff education training as needed.
  • Monthly individual supervision with the Food Services team
  • Maintain all food, supplies, and other items necessary to the operation of the kitchen.
  • Maintain a safe kitchen and ensure all appliances are working properly and regular maintenance is scheduled.


  • Participate in mandatory trainings, in-services, and meetings.
  • Participate in the Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) of the agency.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years’ previous experience in Food Services in a Supervisor role or higher is required with a Culinary Degree.
  • Familiar with NSLP and CACFP menu planning
  • Minimum 2year event management experience
  • Work hour Flexibility. May require to work weekends
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees at all levels.
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral or written instructions. Knowledge of computer, ordering software and Office applications, preferred but no required.
  • Valid Managers Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Employee will be walking or standing for majority of shift. Some lifting required up to 50 lbs., with occasional lifting up to 100 lbs. Position involves stooping, bending, stretching and climbing.

As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.

The employee is often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee may occasionally be required to drive a motor vehicle.
