Life Skills/Activity Coordinator

Schedule: Mon-Thurs 10am-7pm, flex Sun 10am-6pm

JOB SUMMARY:

Maintain a healthy, therapeutic, and safe environment for all residents.  Work with residents to develop the skills necessary for independent living through life skills workshops and off-site/on-site community engagement activities. Act as event/activities liaison to all in-house and community events.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Develop and facilitate life skills and education classes for residents on a weekly basis and as needed.
  2. Identify creative ways to maximize engagement of TAY (Transitional Aged Youth) participation in weekly groups.
  3. Responsible for contract compliance resident trainings and groups.
  4. Responsible for resident participation in groups/activities at minimum of 120 min/per month.
  5. Responsible for community engagement and connecting resources to residents.
  6. Responsible for educating and introducing our residents to community enrichment activities.
  7. Facilitate presentations and provided resources to staff as needed related to life skills and upcoming events/activities.
  8. Facilitate and plan on-site events and celebrations for residents.
  9. Appropriately document the residents’ activities and program participation.
  10. Chaperone scheduled activities both on site and away from the facility grounds.
  11. Assure all supplies and donations are consistently organized and inventoried.
  12. Promote social skills through resident participation in all activities and special events.
  13. Maintain confidentiality as required by St. Anne’s, licensing, HIPAA, and other regulatory agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Science or related degree and a minimum two years of full-time experience working with transition-aged youth or a similar population.
  2. Experience in group, social or recreational work is preferred.
  3. Ability to exercise considerable initiative and judgment required in planning and arranging recreational events, counseling, selection of activities and use of leisure time, and promoting interest in participation in activities.
  4. Good oral and written communication skills.
  5. Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.

  7. As providers of social services, St. Anne’s employees work with clients dealing with complex emotional and mental health issues, many of whom are facing significant personal crises on a daily basis. Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions, transference, and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional.  As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.
