Recreational & Community Engagement Manager

Hours: Monday-Thursday 11am-8pm, flex Friday 11am-7pm


Under the supervision of the Residential Milieu Services, Director, the Recreation & Community Engagement Manager is responsible for coordinating and providing recreational and educational activities for residents and their children. Responsible for providing a healthy, therapeutic, and safe environment for residents and their children through direct care.



  1. Provides direct supervision of Assistant Activities Coordinators, Transportation & Education Specialist, Occupational Therapist, and Resident Intern.
  2. Responsible for community engagement and connecting resources to residents.
  3. Responsible for educating and introducing our residents to community enrichment activities.
  4. Responsible for the overall functioning of transportation services and education support services.
  5. Maintains posted activities calendar for residents and documentation of sign-up sheets and activity participation notes, etc.
  6. Plans and facilitates daily activities incorporating physical and leisure aspects.
  7. Responsible for the supervision, protection, and care of residents.
  8. Involves residents in planning of activities through resident council and other forms of involvement.
  9. Provides assistance to each resident in working with a group and in handling individual problems.
  10. Administers discipline and setting of limits for behavior.
  11. Documents residents progress; identifies possible need for professional services; communicates such findings to professional staff.
  12. Maintain regular, consistent, and timely attendance.
  13. Maintain confidentiality as required by St. Anne’s, licensing, HIPAA, and other regulatory agencies



  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, or related degree. Coursework in recreational leadership is required.  Experience in group, social or recreational work is preferred.
  2. Ability to exercise considerable initiative and judgment required in planning and arranging recreational events, counseling, selection of activities and use of leisure time, and promoting interest in participation in activities.
  3. Good oral and written communication skills.
  4. Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
  5. Physical ability to perform Pro-ACT, administer first aid/CPR and operate an agency motor vehicle.
  6. Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.

  8. As providers of social services, St. Anne’s employees work with clients dealing with complex emotional and mental health issues, many of whom are facing significant personal crises on a daily basis.  Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions, transference, and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional.  As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.
