Schedule: 12 hours per week, flexibility in schedule

Pay Rate:$55-60 hourly, On-call: paid an hour for any work between 15-60 minutes. Maximum annual pay not to exceed $78k.



Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Interdisciplinary Services, the Registered Nurse Consultant provides coaching and consultation regarding medical and dental services by working closely with the Health and Nutrition Manager, the health specialists, and the health aid.


 Provide consultation and guidance to the health team (Health and Nutrition Manager, the health specialists, and the health aid) on:


  1. Safety practices for COVID-19.
  2. Using integrated and holistic approaches to physical health based on current science and best practices.
  3. Making reasonable accommodations to minimize/eliminate nutrition, health & safety risks defined and authorized by administrative team.
  4. Developing policies and procedures aligned with all State and Federal mandates, including sanitation, hygiene procedures, universal precautions, and the administration, handling and storage of medications.
  5. Monitoring nutrition, health, and oral safety as detailed by Community Care Licensing Division, Head Start Act and Performance Standards, California Health and Disabilities Periodicity (CHDP) schedule for Health Assessment required for the age group served.
  6. Preparing and updating the annual Health Services Action Plan and standards and procedures for providing and evaluating health care services, including development histories for children.
  7. Training staff on policies and procedures aligned with all State and Federal mandates, including nutrition, sanitation, hygiene procedures, universal precautions, and the administration, handling and storage of medications.
  8. Leading the Health Service Advisory Committee, develop and maintain community resources and collaborations with health providers in the local community, and negotiate interagency agreements and contracts with health providers.




  1. Licensed as a RN through the California Board of Behavioral Science, and California Board of Licensed Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
  2. Red Cross Basis First Aide Certificate and CPR Certificate are required.
  3. Three-five years of professional health services experience involving the administration of direct medical services with public health, nursing, health education, health administration or maternal and child health, coordination of medical services with community health, occupational health, school nursing, pediatrics and related health practitioners and community services networks.
  4. Minimum of two years of management experience.
  5. Bilingual English and Spanish, Tagalog, or Korean preferred.
  6. Able to communicate effectively with both children and adults.
  7. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and driving record acceptable to agency’s insurance carrier

Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions, transference, and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional.  As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.
