EDUCATIONAL SPECIALIST *BONUS INCENTIVE*

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 7:00pm; Flex Friday 10:00am – 6:00pm

Pay Rate: $21.79 Hourly

JOB SUMMARY:

Plans and coordinates educational programs to support high school diploma, trade school, and two-four year college program. Develops curricula, prepares relevant presentations and materials and organizes and delivers, and/or facilitates classes, workshops, seminars, and other training services. Provides student advisement and associated services as appropriate.

Transitional Housing Program (THS) offers both a Sign-On Incentive AND a Retention Incentive range between $750-$1500 based on annual salary/pay.*

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Plans and designs curricula for educational programs; researches and defines educational goals, objectives, and methodologies to meet program goals.
  • Determines formats and approaches to achieve program objectives; defines needs of target populations; researches trends at the national and state level, as appropriate to the position.
  • Coordinates activities of support staff, interns, and/or volunteers engaged in the implementation and administration of program objectives.
  • Manages and facilitates program activities, including classes, trainings, conferences, seminars, and/or other special projects.
  • As appropriate to the nature and objectives of the individual role, provides student advisement and support services, and serves as a liaison and advocate with educational entities and program staff.
  • Writes, edits, and coordinates development of educational materials, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program.
  • Purchases equipment and/or services, as necessary, and ensures the proper usage and maintenance of materials and equipment relevant to unit activities.
  • Assists with contractual data as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program.
  • Develops and maintains records and databases on student and program activities, materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Coordinates student registration for special education programs.

SECONDARY JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide crisis intervention to residents and develop safety plans to assist residents with making safe choices.
  • Actively participate in mandatory trainings, in-services and meetings.
  • Maintain a healthy, therapeutic, and safe environment for all residents.
  • Orient new intakes to the program, including completing educational assessment.
  • Assist with the operations of the lobby when necessary.
  • Assist during emergency situations. Direct emergency response personnel, residents and staff. Assist with evacuating the building if necessary.
  • Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of the agency.
  • Communicate through fax, telephone, and e-mail with other service providers when appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality as required by St. Anne’s, Licensing, HIPAA, and other regulatory agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Science and a minimum of two years of full-time experience working with transition-aged youth, or a Master’s Degree in a Behavioral Science or Human Service.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
  • Good oral, written, and organizational skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
  • Physical ability to perform Pro-ACT, administer first aid/CPR, and operate an Agency motor vehicle.
  • Ability to independently use a computer and the ability to learn necessary computer programs.
  • Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.
