LIFE SKILLS/ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR/EDUCATIONAL SPECIALIST *BONUS INCENTIVE*

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 7:00pm; Flex Friday 10:00am – 6:00pm

Pay Rate: $24.00 – 26.00 Hourly.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Life Skills Coordinator/Educational specialist provides life skills training and educational support to individual clients housed in St. Anne’s Supportive Housing Programs. Working collaboratively with the Supportive Housing Family Advocates, Case Managers, the Life Skills Coordinator/Educational specialist supports life skills related to resident goals, intimate partner violence, parenting skills, supporting behavioral changes that improve daily functioning, and supporting linkage to community resources. Plans and coordinates educational program to support high school diploma, trade school, and two-four year college program. Develops curricula, prepares relevant presentations and materials and organizes and delivers, and/or facilitates classes, workshops, seminars, and other training services. Provides student advisement and associated services as appropriate.

Transitional Housing Program (THS) offers both a Sign-On Incentive AND a Retention Incentive range between $750-$1500 based on annual salary/pay.*

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Perform life skills assessments. Plans and designs curricula for educational programs; researches and defines educational goals, objectives, and methodologies to meet program goals.
  • Develop materials to support new life skill programs for clients as identified by the client and team including areas of budgeting, housekeeping, parenting, conflict management, and employment. Writes, edits, and coordinates development of educational materials, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program.
  • Work collaboratively with the SHP team to monitor progress on individual goals and encourage independent action, while assisting as appropriate.
  • Maintain contact with clients referred for life skills support, and provide home visits according to the identified level of need. Coordinates student registration for special education programs.
  • Participate in team case conferences for the entire caseload of St. Anne’s Supportive Housing Program.
  • Develop and facilitate life skills and education classes for residents weekly and as needed.
  • Identify creative ways to maximize engagement of TAY (Transitional Aged Youth) participation in weekly groups.
  • Responsible for resident participation in groups/activities at a minimum of 120 min/per month.
  • Provide Parenting classes, First-aid Certification, and Domestic Violence groups for participants within the program.
  • Assists with contractual data as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program.
  • Develops and maintains records and databases on student and program activities, materials, equipment, and supplies.

SECONDARY JOB DUTIES:

  • Actively participate in mandatory trainings, in-services and meetings.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe therapeutic environment for all residents.
  • Assist with the operations of the lobby when necessary.
  • Assist during emergency situations. Direct emergency response personnel, residents and staff. Assist with evacuating the building if necessary.
  • Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of the agency.
  • Communicate through fax, telephone, and e-mail with other service providers when appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality as required by St. Anne’s, Licensing, HIPAA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Science or related degree and a minimum two years of full-time experience working with transition-aged youth or a similar population. Experience in group, social or recreational work is preferred.
  • Ability to exercise considerable initiative and judgment required in planning and arranging recreational events, counseling, selection of activities and use of leisure time, and promoting interest in participation in activities.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
  • Physical ability to perform Pro-ACT, administer first aid/CPR, and operate an agency motor vehicle.
  • Ability to independently use a computer and the ability to learn necessary computer programs.
  • Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.
