Mental Health Consultation Specialist, LCSW


Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Interdisciplinary Services, the Clinical Supervisor oversees the Mental Health clinical services and provides clinical supervision to the Mental Health Specialists. The Clinical Supervisor works closely with the Mental Health & Disability Manager within the Interdisciplinary team to ensure consistent service delivery within the Early Childhood Education (0-5) division. The position monitors and ensures compliance with relevant Head Start Act and Performance Standards and other agency regulations and standards.



  1. Provide clinical supervision to Mental Health Specialists, including, but not limited to: debriefing on MH cases, conducting assessments, implementing intervention plans, and identifying MH resources in the community.
  2. Monitor mental health services as detailed by Head Start Act and Performance Standards.
  3. Oversee Child Plus data entry of mental health services.
  4. Periodically audit children’s MH files to ensure compliance with recordkeeping and data system standards.
  5. Collaborate with the Mental Health & Disabilities Manager and Mental Health Specialists to develop MH presentations for staff and/or families.
  6. Provide guidance to Mental Health Specialists regarding multi-disciplinary teams for intervention and follow-up purposes.
  7. Use and train Mental Health Specialists on integrated and holistic approaches to mental health based on current science and best practices.
  8. Collaborate with the Mental Health & Disabilities Manager and the Associate Director of Interdisciplinary Services to develop policies and procedures aligned with the Head Start Act and Performance Standards, State and Federal mandates and LACOE GIMS.
  9. Travel as needed to (Central LA and Lynwood) St. Anne’s sites.



  1. Required LCSW with the ability to provide clinical supervision to Associate Clinical Social Workers (Mental Health Specialists).
  2. Experience with Early Childhood Education (ECE) population (0-5yrs and families).
  3. Three years of professional experience involving the delivery and/or administration of mental health services.
  4. Able to communicate effectively with both children and adults.
  5. Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.
  6. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and driving record acceptable to agency’s insurance carrier

  8. As providers of social services, St. Anne’s employees work with clients dealing with complex emotional and mental health issues, many of whom are facing significant personal crises on a daily basis. Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions, transference, and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional.  As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.


    • 6 hours a week : (49 weeks per year) or
    • 3 hours per day for 2 days a week. Schedule will be set and recurring every week. Candidate can choose 3 hours during these times:
      • Monday 9am-5pm
      • Tuesday 9am-12pm
      • Wednesday 9am-12pm
      • Thursday 1-5pm
