MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – TEMPORARY

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
 
Pay rate: $18.00 – $21.00 Hourly
 
Location: Main Campus

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of mechanical and general maintenance work in the repair and upkeep of the buildings and equipment.  Aptitude for and a working knowledge of wood, metal working, electrical, plumbing and construction trades are required.  Position involves substantial interaction with all departments. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and steam fitting; minor repairs requiring painting, carpentry and plastering; moving and set-up of office equipment, furniture, and supplies; and general maintenance, including preventative, of equipment as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
  • Complete and document daily inspections of St. Anne’s Family Services fleet of passenger vehicles and vans; ensure all vehicles are in safe working order and that any damage or required maintenance is addressed immediately.
  • Participate on the Maintenance On-Call phone rotation; respond to urgent facility-related issues after hours and on weekends when on call.
  • Other duties as required.

 

SECONDARY JOB DUTIES

  • Participate in mandatory trainings, in-services, and meetings.
  • Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of the agency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school, trade school or equivalent. Previous experience in general maintenance preferred. 
  • Must have ability to organize assigned jobs and emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees at all levels.
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral or written instructions.
  • Valid City of Los Angeles Boiler Operator License is preferred and will be required within one year of employment.
  • Certificate of Completion for electrical and/or plumbing is preferred and should be obtained within eighteen months of employment.
  • HVAC license is preferred.
  • Ability to make general maintenance repairs involving wood, metal working, electrical, plumbing and construction trades.
  • Employee will be walking or standing for majority of shift. Continuous lifting of 25-50 lbs., occasional lifting of 50-100 lbs.  Position involves stooping, bending, stretching and climbing.
  • Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear.  The employee is often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee may occasionally be required to drive a motor vehicle.
