RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR *BONUS INCENTIVE*

Evening Schedule:
Sun-Wed 3pm-12am, Flex Days Thursday or Friday (3pm-11pm) OR ;
Wed-Sat 3pm-12am, Flex Days Monday or Tuesday (3pm-11pm)

Overnight Schedule:
Wed-Sat 11pm-8am, Flex Days Monday or Tuesday (11pm-7am) OR;
Sun – Wed 11pm-8am flex Thursday or Friday, 11pm-7am

Pay Rate: $20- $21 Hourly (Based on education and experience)

Location: Main Campus.

**Residential Treatment Program (STRTP) offers both a Sign-On Incentive and a Retention Incentive that ranges between $750-$1500 based on annual salary/pay.*

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for monitoring, supervising, and guiding the residents in their daily routine. Provides a healthy, therapeutic and safe environment for residents and their children in their direct care.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Provide supervision, protection, and care of residents individually and in groups at all time.
  2. Provide assistance to each resident in working with a group and in handling individual problems.
  3. Administer discipline and setting of limits for behavior.
  4. Document residents’ progress; identify possible need for professional services; communicate such findings to professional staff.
  5. Ensure safety of residents while transporting to and from appointments as needed.
  6. Maintain confidentiality as required by St. Anne’s, licensing, HIPAA, and other regulatory agencies.

SECONDARY JOB DUTIES:

  1. Participate in mandatory trainings, in-service, and meetings.
  2. Maintain regular, consistent, and timely attendance.
  3. Participate in the Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) of the agency.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must meet one of the following:
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related degree
  3. Have obtained a valid Child Development Teaching Permit.
  4. Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Foster and Kinship Care Education, or Psychology and have completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with youth.
  5. Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with youth.
  6. Have a valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least100 hours of experience working with youth as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor, or other relevant experience as determined by the department.
  7. Previously been employed as a full-time staff or served as a volunteer at a group home, short-term residential therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year.
  8. Have relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor, or caregiver, or life experience with children who have experienced high levels of trauma, or other relevant experience as determined by the department.
  9. Good oral and written communication skills.
  10. Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
  11. Physical ability to perform Pro-ACT, administer first aid/CPR and operate an agency motor vehicle.
  12. Ability to independently use a computer and the ability to learn necessary computer programs.
  13. Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.

As providers of social services, St. Anne’s employees work with clients dealing with complex emotional and mental health issues, many of whom are facing significant personal crises on a daily basis. Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions, transference, and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional. As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear. The employee is often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  2. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  3. Employee may occasionally be required to drive a motor vehicle.
